SEN Kids are being left behind from school

Student freaking out in lesson

Hi Everyone, I have been researching a lot into the SEN Support that is available to the children in our community and what I have found is pretty disturbing, SEN Kids make up 22% of the school population and unfortunately for those living in England, hundreds of SEN Kids are either inadequately housed in schools that can't support them or, they aren't even enrolled.

In the school year 22/23 the number of school children missing from the education system was a staggering 11,600, many of whom have found their way back but still just under 3000 missing out.

We've all seen the posts "my child hasn't got a school placement" "the system cannot handle the amount of SEN students" "My child had to leave school because they couldn't cope" etc... the list is never-ending.

For every child on an EHCP the amount of extra resources a school needs is sometimes beyond what is available and teachers have to work more creatively to ensure that everyone is getting the same level of education, they have to work with the families of SEN students to enforce this which is sometimes more difficult if the parents have educational difficulties themselves.

But there is HOPE!
