Neurodiversity UK at VOLT

Volunteer Now, Powerpoint

Hi Everyone, Happy Friday! We've been lucky with the weather this week, haven't we? I don't know, something about the good weather always makes me glad to get out and about with Neurodiversity UK and help get its name out there even more & that's exactly what we did this week, Volunteer Now invited us to a VOLT session up at the Palace Demesne in Armagh to talk and get us all thinking about older people in volunteering and the benefits it can bring to organisations and charities alike.

NeurodiversityUK at Volunteer Now Event

As "Positive Ageing" week begins on 30th September.  It was great to see so many organisations attend this event, and we got to meet quite a few who gave us great insight into how neurodiversity has impacted them and whether we could come to be able to support one another.

Volunteer Now has looked into the reasons why an older, more experienced individual may choose to volunteer or not. It may stem from health reasons, time constraints, or any number of competing factors, and it is up to us, as an organisation, to create an environment where we allow the strengths of our volunteers to shine.  We cannot wait to sit down as a team and develop ways in which we can highlight our more seasoned volunteers, for it is with their knowledge we can help our younger volunteers thrive.

We look forward to future sessions with Volunteer Now and developing further connections within our national community.
